Changes in the criminal conduct of driving under the influence of alcohol or substances

Interesting are the provisions of the new law 4637/2019 that impose significant penalties up to life imprisonment for anyone driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and causing loss of life. In particular, anyone who drives over alcohol or exceeds the permitted limits or has used drugs or drives in traffic or performs dangerous maneuvers or takes part in improvised races, kicks, or swoops shall be punished:

Up to 3 years imprisonment or a fine if it caused a risk to material goods.
Imprisonment of at least one year if endangered.
Up to 10 years imprisonment if it has caused severe personal injury or caused damage to public utilities.
With at least 10 years imprisonment if human life was lost and life imprisonment if many human lives were killed.
